A personal note from Kitty, the instance admin:

I would like to welcome you to kitty.social, and thank you for stopping by!

This is an instance of Misskey that openly federates with other ActivityPub-compliant websites and allows you to communicate with people across the internet! My personal goals are to keep this space comfortable for all while simultaneously allowing the free flow of information. We encourage users to perform self-moderation where possible, i.e. you have a block function, please use it. Remote users may be delisted for the safety and sanity of the public, but where possible, we will make an attempt to allow users who wish to stay in contact to do so.

What we offer

Expected of our users

  1. No illegal content This server is hosted within the bounds of the United States of America, and is thusly subject to its laws. Please refrain from uploading any content which may be deemed illegal.
  2. No sexual or overtly graphic depictions of minors. (I sure hope I don't need to write anything other than that for this one. Don't be the person who makes that a necessity, PLEASE.)
  3. No harassment Harassing may be defined as repeatedly contacting someone after you have been requested to stop, or judging them based on their race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, economic status, or other background.
  4. NSFW content must be hidden. Any NSFW content posted to your account must either be hidden (preferably with a content warning) or posted to your followers-only timeline.
  5. Bots Bots may be created on this instance so long as they DO NOT automatically upload media attachments without first being prompted by another human interaction on the platform. Bandwidth and storage are not free, someone has to foot that bill and it will probably be me (Kitty).


The above expectations are subject to interpretation by kitty.social staff pending any disciplinary action. Any violations to the above expectations may result in a ban, and/or forwarding of information to law enforcement if deemed necessary.

Our federation policy

  1. No illegal content. Remote users will be suspended from kitty.social if they are found to be posting illegal content.
  2. No sexual or overtly graphic depictions of minors. Remote users will be suspended from kitty.social if they are found to be posting content containing minors depicted in any kind of sexual, graphic, or abusive situation.
  3. No harassment Depending on the nature of violation, remote users may be delisted if they practice harassment as defined above. Repeat offenders targeting users of kitty.social may be suspended.
  4. NSFW content must be hidden. Any remote user posting NSFW content which is not properly obscured from public timelines may be entirely delisted from public view.
  5. Instance Bans Though instance bans should be considered a "last resort" for kitty.social staff to apply, instances that host a large amount of users violating the above rules, instances that encourage these behaviors, and/or instances that have conformant rules but do not enforce them may be blocked and defederated from kitty.social.

Regarding your privacy

"kitty.social" and its operators hold NO LIABILITY and make NO GUARANTEE of the security of any content uploaded to this website, REGARDLESS of any other inferred or explicit statements made on this website, such as visibility permissions on posts. ALL media content uploaded is immedately accessible to any individual posessing the link, without authentication.

We would like to offer you a reminder that, as with any other website of this nature, administration has the ability to view any content received by the server. Content and data provided by you to the server may be incidentally seen during the course of regular administration processes or explicitly investigated for moderation purposes.

If you have any argument whatsoever to these Terms of Service, please refrain from using kitty.social. There are over 1,000 other fediverse-enabled servers such as this one which will allow you to access many of the same servers and people, and may be more friendly to terms you might find better applicable. You will save both your time and mine by doing so.

These Terms of Service are subject to change at any time, without prior warning or notice.
